Story of my life.
Legend has it that people born on a Monday are way too serious with life. My mom believes this wholeheartedly and I think I have eventually come to agree.
Hey curious human, I’m Jesutofunmi, I’m just a girl and here’s a bit of my life history so far.
Lonewolf.

I was that kid that rarely came out to play with other kids. You'd typically find me mostly indoors, writing stories, solving maths for fun or reading books while running errands. At eight, while my classmates were running around, I was handcrafting planners and mapping out my week. I didn’t fully understand it then but I knew I liked thinking ahead.
Foray into Engineering.

My high school teachers wanted me to study Medicine and Surgery. That’s what the serious, brilliant kids did. But years of journaling and self-reflection pointed me to Electronic and Electrical Engineering and that is what I studied it at a top school in Nigeria.
In my second year in uni, I joined a hardware makerspace where we built prototypes and products that people actually paid for! By year three, a professor pulled me into engineering research and that was my introduction to machine learning. When it was time for compulsory industrial training, I had 7 placements to choose from. I eventually went for the least popular option because of the tremendous learning opportunity.
My toxic trait - Ownership.

I started as an Android engineer intern. Two months in, I was unofficially promoted to Product Owner and I worked both roles simultaneously. During the pandemic, I interned as a product manager, and was dubbed “senior PM” because my attitude to work didn't match my official intern title.
At DRO Health, six months in, I was leading a brand-new B2B vertical — whitelabel, multitenant and API product rails for healthcare. DROHealth had been strictly B2C until then. The B2B vertical quickly became the revenue engine for the entire business.
3 months into Fertitude as Product Manager, I was offered a Co-founder seat (it didn’t work out, for different reasons). This same trait landed me a role that didn't exist prior with Shreyas Doshi. I eventually learned that this trait is called ownership.

Learning to ENJOY life.
Product Management snatched me from lonewolf living, and I have since fallen in love with working with and being around people. However, some things have scarcely changed. Living in the present, enjoying life, making memories are skills that I am now trying to develop as an adult after spending about 2 decades doing the exact opposite. I now schedule and budget for fun - hosting people, trying new places/things, learning photography etc. I’m also trying to document the journey on Substack and Instagram, so follow along.

You’ll catch me working on (and talking about) things that sit at the intersection of my values and interests below.

Five things I won’t trade.
Godliness
My anchor. If it's not godly, I hope you don't find me there.
Impact
Creating win-win situations, touching lives.
Diligence
Doing the best I can at all times and then some more.
Creativity
New shapes for old problems.
Empathy
The only way to create true impact.
My fav rabbit holes.
Engineering, Art and Finance have my heart, at least for now.
psst — let your inner child come out, drag elements around for fun.
Working on something at this intersection?
If your work sits where my values and interests overlap and you believe I can add value, please reach out.
